well, here it is, what I’ve been working on for the last week or so for a few hours each night when everyone else has gone to bed :) I’m actually quite proud of it, I tried to keep it really clean and simple. Credit for the photo goes to Alissa, who took that photo at Salt Creek beach in Laguna.

So, what’s new: (warning, nerdy content ahead)

• I did up the blog in mephisto, a blogging engine written in ruby (on rails of course) and I like it.
• My del.icio.us links are pulled in via rss thanks to the mephisto_delicious plugin
• My most recent flickr photos are pulled in and formatted all nice
• For you RSS syndicators, (maybe only Jeff ) there’s a new site feed, (also an auto discovery link, and a cute orange standard icon on the right column)
• The feature I am most proud of: I managed to bring over my itunes integration to mephisto, complete with Amazon.com webservice queries to get album art. I took a lot of concepts from the old itunesWatcher applescript/php deal and wrote everything in ruby. So you can appreciate what I went through, I had to learn how to write a plugin for mephisto (including learning how to define my own liquid tag, which I’m not quite satisfied with), decipher the amazon web services api and learn how to parse xml in ruby (that part was easy thanks to ruby), and write an applescript to get the data from itunes to my sever (not horrible, but harder than ruby). The end result is pretty badass, I click “Send to Blog” in itunes, and the album art for whatever I’m playing shows up over there on the right.
